We are hiring a Madrich or Madricha to lead our Afterschool activities starting in August!

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic person to oversee our afterschool program for children aged 9-12. This part-time role involves up to 17 hours per week and requires a passionate individual committed to fostering a sense of community and belonging, while nurturing the social and emotional development of the children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program: Plan, coordinate, and implement daily activities (13:30-17:00), ensuring a balanced mix of supervised homework time, creative craft activities, games, and Jewish-themed activities.
  • Supervision: Provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children. Supervise and engage with the children during all activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Educational Support: Offer supervised homework assistance, helping children with their assignments and promoting good study habits.
  • Community: Promote a sense of community and belonging among the children by encouraging positive interactions, teamwork, and respect.
  • Communication: Maintain open communication with parents, caregivers, and school staff regarding the children’s progress and any issues that arise.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and program activities. Provide regular updates and reports to program administrators.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children aged 9-11 in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Hebrew, Jewish culture and traditions is preferred.
