Come and build Helsinki’s Jewish future as our new Director of Jewish Life and Learning

Are you a Jewish educator, community builder, an almost-rabbi or experience designer? Are you tired of feeling like a cog in a machine and excited to find a role where you can have a huge impact with ripples across space and time? Are you worried about the increasing divisions forming across the Jewish world and committed to being a bridge-builder, forging connections that bring Klal Israel together?

Helsinki is your next stop.

The Jewish Community of Helsinki is recruiting a new Director of Jewish Living and Learning. The Director of Jewish Living and Learning will infuse community programming with Jewish knowledge and core Jewish values on a molecular level, ensuring that community members are engaging in, and creating, nourishing Jewish experiences that will pave the way for a meaningful Jewish life for them, their children, and their children’s children.

Is this you?

  • You have strong Jewish knowledge, and are passionate about meaningful Jewish living.
  • You are an attentive listener and excellent communicator.
  • You consider Jewish education to be a joy, a calling, and a way to empower those who are willing to pull up a seat with you.
  • You are inspiring and creative—an out-of-the-box thinker who can get others to buy into your vision.
  • You are a do-er, a hands-on person who can take an idea from seed to fruitful tree.
  • You are a leader. You intentionally use yourself to make a positive difference for those around you.
  • You are deeply committed to inclusion and relationship-building, and you understand that Klal Israel is made up of all its members, and greater than the sum of its parts.
  • You are seeking a professional opportunity to stretch your talents, and gain powerful and impressive experiences for your future career.
  • The cold never bothered you anyway!

What you’ll do: inspire, empower, lead

  • Create and implement inspiring cross-communal programs: bring community members together across age, denomination, and background categories, being attentive to the needs of community members and creating exciting Jewish opportunities that speak to those needs.
  • Organise: oversee logistics so events run smoothly.
  • Connect: You will strengthen community bonds through volunteer programs, partnerships with the Jewish school, organisations (both global and local) and direct member outreach.
  • Communicate vision across the community staff team: help the team row in the same direction, and get further together.
  • Manage the Youth Engagement team.
  • Galvanize community volunteers: recruit and manage community members to get in the driver’s seat and produce the community they want to be a part of.

The frozen chosen await!

Gross salary: €45,000 – €55,000 per annum, depending on experience

Relocation assistance is available and will be tailored to the successful applicant’s needs.
